WALK THE TALK – Racing against Cancer

June every year is observed as National Cancer Survivor Month and this year Bhutan Cancer Society with support from World Health Organization and in collaboration with various partners celebrated with the theme “Walk the Talk – Racing against Cancer” on 23rd June 2019. The main objective of the event was to promote healthy living, create awareness on cancer screening particularly pap smear and to show solidarity to people living with cancer. The event was graced by HE The Prime Minister as the Chief Guest, Hon’ble Ministers, International Representatives and Senior Government Representatives.

This one day event brought together our family members, friends and community to celebrate everyone who has survived cancer and to support to those fighting cancer. The day gave the opportunity for the survivors to share their experience in fighting and surviving the cancer and was an enormous encouragement for those who are currently undergoing treatment.

The program was scheduled at two different locations in Thimphu. The first half of the program was celebrated at the Memorial Chorten where the Bhutan Cancer Society Progress Report was launched and the Butter lamp of HOPE was offered. The second half of the program was held at the Clock Tower where the cancer survivors got the opportunity to share their experience followed by DZomba, Aerobics and entertainment programs. The program also included free NCD screening for the general public.
